Dehradun is a city in the state of Uttarakhand, India. It is the headquarters of Dehradun district and also forms a part of Garhwal region. It is located at an elevation between 2,000 and 2,400 meters above sea level, on or near NH-24 (Dehradun-Tawang) road which connects it with Rishikesh through Nainital and Haridwar.[2]

Robber's Cave is located near Dehradun Fort, which was built by Maharaja Pratap Singh (1775-1840 CE) during British rule in India. It has been declared as a national monument by Archaeological Survey of India (ASI). This cave houses one of the largest collection of paintings by Ajay Kumar Gupta known as "Robber's Cave Paintings". The paintings depict scenes from Hindu mythology including Rama killing Ravana at Lanka during his exile period after being defeated by him during their war with each other for 14 years continuously for sevenys until he finally defeated him with help from Hanuman who killed Balarama first then himself after resisting Lord Shiva's temptation
