Brahmapur is a city in the Indian state of Odisha. It is the administrative headquarters of Puri district and also a municipality. Brahmapur was established by King Bhagirath Deva, who built a temple here to commemorate his victory over the Gajapati kings of Orissa who had defeated him at Nabadwip (Konark). The town was then known as Gamharia and was annexed to Odisha by Aryaji in 1610 CE.
The island has been declared as an archeological site since 1982 under Rule 5(2) of Archeological Survey of India (ASI).

The city's cuisine reflects both its traditional roots as well as influences from other parts of India or abroad. While many dishes may seem similar to those found elsewhere (with some variations), there are also many unique dishes that set Brahmapur apart from other regions:
Chhana--sweetened chickpeas (garlic chutney) served with rice; sometimes eaten with naan bread
Chicken curry--chicken cooked in coconut milk or tamarind sauce
Chicken tikka--marinated chicken cooked on skewers and served with chopped onions and lemon juice Dal bati--a bread made with lentils, chickpeas or potatoes

Shree Krishna Market: This market has been around for more than 150 years and is one of the largest markets in India. It sells a wide variety of items including clothes and shoes made from natural fibers such as cotton, silk etc., jewellery sets made from gold or silver etc., electronic goods like watches etc., mobile phones too! This place is famous for its delicious food stalls (which sell Indian snacks!). There are also many Restaurants in Brahmapur here serving International cuisines such as Italian pizza or Mexican burritos with chips served on paper plates instead of plastic ones which makes eating here fun as well!
You can find all kinds of items here, from Indian sweets to Japanese electronics. The place has a very lively ambience and it is easy to get lost in the crowd but don't worry; there are many people around who will guide you through the market! It is also worth noting that this market is open only on Wednesdays and Saturdays so if you happen to be around on other days then you will have to go elsewhere for shopping.
Festivals: The city celebrates several festivals throughout the year, including Durga Puja, Diwali and Holi. Durga Puja is a Hindu festival celebrated in the fall. During this time of celebration, women smear each other with colored powders and oils as part of a religious ritual known as “Dussehra” or “Dhamala.” Diwali (also called Deepavali) is a Hindu festival celebrated on the new moon day of Kartik month which falls between mid-October to early November every year. This holiday marks victory over evil forces by Lord Rama after ten years of exile from his kingdom following his defeat at Lanka Kingdom by Ravana's brother Surpanakha who tried to seduce him but was instead killed by him with her own hairpin when she revealed herself as an ugly witch disguised as another woman named Urmila who wanted revenge against Rama for killing her husband whom she believed had been sent back from heaven after committing suicide because he failed to satisfy her sexual desires despite being given many chances throughout their marriage cycle which resulted into lots more than usual births than expected due to multiple pregnancies caused by constant intercourse between them during their last few months together before parting ways forever (and also causing massive destruction upon themselves along with everyone else around them).
Holi is also known as Holika Festival wherein people celebrate spring season by throwing colored water mixed with powdered sugar onto each other while dancing happily without any inhibitions whatsoever - especially if you're female!
Brahmapur is home to several wildlife sanctuaries, including the Rushikulya Sea Turtle Sanctuary and the Buguda Deer Sanctuary. The Rushikulya Sea Turtle Sanctuary is a protected area for sea turtles. It hosts more than 200 species of marine life and has become one of India's most important turtle breeding grounds. The Buguda Deer Sanctuary is also home to many endangered animals such as elephants, tigers, leopards and rhinos that thrive here thanks to its rich grasslands filled with trees like teakwood trees which provide shade from sunrays during hot summer days so that these animals can rest under them without getting burnt by direct sunlight rays coming down from above them but at times it may feel cold due to lack of breeze blowing through forests but you will find yourself warming up pretty quickly when inside one of these majestic jungles where you may even spot some lions roaming around looking for food!
Trekking is a great way to get outside and explore the surrounding area. It is also an excellent way for you to get in touch with nature and connect with others who share your interests. The nearby hills offer several opportunities for trekking and hiking, with scenic views of the surrounding landscape.
The best time for trekking depends on what type of terrain you want to explore: if it's dry or wet weather, then it may be better suited for fall or spring seasons; if it's hot or cold temperatures during summertime then perhaps plan on wintertime trips!
Parasailing is a popular adventure sport in Brahmapur. It's a great way to see the city from above and it's also fun! Parasailing can be done on either an inflatable or powered boat, depending on your preference and experience level.
Jet skiing is another popular activity in Brahmapur. This kind of water-based activity involves riding behind someone else’s motorized craft through shallow water, often at high speeds (about 35 mph).
Brahmapur is home to several ancient temples, forts, and monuments. The Maa Tara Tarini Temple is considered to be one of the Shakti Peethas.
