Reasons to Visit Kumarakom

Kumarakom is one of the most beautiful places in Kerala, with its pristine beaches and lush greenery. It is also a popular tourist destination with an abundance of activities to keep you busy.

Scenic Beauty

Kumarakom is a small town with a population of about 4500 people. It is located in the far south of Kerala, on the banks of the Arabian Sea. This area has beautiful beaches and forests with lots to do for all ages (from kids to adults).

Kumarakom is known for its scenic beauty, which makes it a very popular tourist destination. The best time to visit Kumarakom would be during summer when you can enjoy watching water activities such as swimming or kayaking on one side while having your breakfast at an outdoor Kumarakom restaurant on another side!

Houseboat Experience

Kumarakom is a great place to experience Kerala's natural beauty and culture, but it also has its own unique way of life. If you're looking for a relaxing vacation with unique experiences, houseboats are the way to go!

Houseboat cruises in Kumarakom are a must-do when visiting this beautiful part of India. The houseboats themselves are built on wooden barges that float through backwaters along with their owners who live aboard them year round. This gives travelers an opportunity to experience everything from traditional village life as well as cultural festivals like Onam (Malayalam) or Pongal (Tamil). You can even partake in cooking classes while onboard one of these floating homes!

Bird Watching

The bird watching is a great way to enjoy the beauty of nature. The bird watching is also an activity that can be done with your family and friends, which makes it even more enjoyable. You will get to see many different types of birds, such as peacocks, parakeets, cockatiels, and more!

You may want to visit Kumarakom during the winter season because there are many beautiful birds found here in this area at this time of year (including migratory species). If you like birds but do not want them flying around your head all day long then consider staying at one of our Kumarakom hotels instead so that you can enjoy their presence without having them land on top of yours every time they take flight!

Ayurvedic Massage

Ayurvedic massage is a holistic therapy which uses ancient healing techniques to restore balance and harmony to the body. It is a gentle and relaxing treatment that helps you to relax and release stress, reducing tension throughout your body.

Ayurvedic massages can be performed by qualified practitioners who have studied at recognised institutes of ayurveda or yoga therapy. The massage therapist uses oils, herbal remedies or other treatments on specific parts of your body depending on what needs healing or relaxation at that time.

Traditional Kerala Cuisine

Kumarakom is famous for its traditional Kerala cuisine. With a blend of different cultures, the food here is very spicy and healthy. It has been an integral part of Kerala’s culture since ancient times and continues to be so today.

Kerala cuisine can be categorized into four main groups:

The North Malabar region (Thrissur) specialises in seafood dishes such as prawns, fish and shellfish prepared with spices such as pepper powder or coconut paste; Chicken Curry; Chicken Vindaloo (spicy); Beef Stew etc., which are usually cooked on slow fire over wood charcoal stovetop (dhaal) or hotplate (talai). This type of cooking has evolved from centuries-old methods passed down from generation-to-generation through oral tradition until finally reaching us today!

Visit the Kumarakom Bird Sanctuary

Kumarakom Bird Sanctuary is a bird sanctuary in the Kumarakom Lake, a man-made lake formed by the Damodar River. The lake is popular for its abundance of waterbirds and avifauna that migrate through it during their annual migration routes from Siberia to Africa.

Explore the Backwaters

The backwaters are a series of interconnected lakes and canals. These waterways are popular for tourists, who come to enjoy the scenic beauty and wildlife that makes this area so unique. The main attractions here include:

The Kumarakom Bird Sanctuary, which is home to many varieties of birds including migratory birds from across Asia and Africa. The sanctuary is also home to other species such as peacocks, cormorants, herons and egrets.

The Kumarakom Lake Resort offers a wide range of accommodation options including hotel rooms or villas with private pools just steps away from the waterfront (if you're feeling flush!). You can even book tickets online before arriving so there's no need to wait around all day trying desperately not get caught up in traffic jams!

Stay in a Homestay

Homestays are a great way to get to know the local culture and meet the locals. A homestay is also a great way to experience the local culture.

In Kerala, it is customary for families to take in guests for meals or overnight stays during their festivals like Onam, Vishu or Kumbha Mela etc., so you can enjoy eating delicious food with them.

Also, there are many other activities that can be done during these times such as going on tours around Kumarakom Lake or visiting nearby temples like Varanasi temple which have beautiful architecture built centuries ago by kings who ruled over this region before independence was won by India in 1947

Visit the Aruvikkuzhi Waterfall

Aruvikkuzhi Waterfall is a beautiful waterfall in the Aruvikkuzhi River. The waterfall has a height of about 10 feet and is located near Kumarakom town. Aruvikkuzhi means ‘the end of the world’, referring to its location at the southernmost tip of Kerala state.

Aruvikkuzhi Waterfall is quite dramatic with its sheer drops and rocky surroundings, but it's also surprisingly peaceful if you take your time exploring it. You can walk up close to this natural wonder or even jump off into its depths if you feel daring enough!

Sunset Cruise

Sunset cruises are one of the most popular activities in Kumarakom. These tours can be taken from any nearby tourist spot or from the Kumarakom town itself.

The best time to take a sunset cruise is between 6 and 7 pm, when you will be able to enjoy some delicious local food with your friends or family members and watch an amazing sunset over the lake. This activity also offers an opportunity for tourists to enjoy some beautiful scenery as well as meet new people!

Kumarakom Beach

Kumarakom Beach is a beautiful beach. It is a white sand beach and has calm waters. The water in Kumarakom is crystal clear, so you can see the coral reefs from deep inside the sea. This makes it a serene place to visit for those who want to disconnect from their busy lives for just one day or two!

Kumarakom Beach also offers plenty of activities such as swimming and snorkeling opportunities available at nearby resorts on land or by boat if you prefer to stay out at sea longer than others might feel comfortable doing so (especially if they don't know how strong currents tend to be). The water here is not too shallow either which means that people with children may find themselves having fun even though they're not particularly good swimmers yet; however since most people do swim regularly anyway there shouldn't be any issues here either way since most people won't need much instruction anyway; there'll always be someone willing enough who knows what's best!

Take a Village Tour

Kumarakom is a beautiful village that has been here for centuries. It’s one of the most picturesque places in Kerala and you can visit this place during your trip to Kumarakom.

You will get to interact with some local people who live here and they will be happy to explain all about their culture, traditions and lifestyle. You will also see how they live their lives every day by seeing how they make clothes or food from scratch using simple tools like knives and axes etc., This experience will surely enrich your travel experience!

Visit the Bay Island Driftwood Museum

The Bay Island Driftwood Museum is located on the Bay Island, a small island southeast of Kumarakom. It is an open-air museum that displays pieces of driftwood sculptures that are hundreds of years old. The museum has over 100 different sculptures and they come from all over India and even other countries around the world!

There are many things to see at this museum but one of my favorites was their collection of “Kerala Folk Art” which includes items made by locals such as pottery, textiles and wooden items like furniture pieces or boats used for fishing in rivers where people depend on them for food and transportation.

Fishing

Kumarakom is a great place to spend time outdoors. Fishing is one of the best ways to relax and enjoy nature, whether you're by yourself or with friends. It's also a great way to learn about wildlife in Kerala, which includes both aquatic creatures like fish and reptiles like snakes and turtles.

If you plan on visiting Kumarakom for any length of time, it's important that you get involved with fishing here! There are many different types of fish that live in this area (and others nearby), so there's sure to be something that interests you enough to want more than just catching a few pieces here and there.

Visit the Pathiramanal Island

Visiting Pathiramanal Island is one of the best things you can do in Kerala. This small island, located in Kumarakom backwaters, is a popular tourist destination and home to a number of temples. It's also an ideal place to visit during monsoon when its greenery is lush and vibrant.

Kumarakom is a great place to visit if you are looking for a vacation that includes many of the things you love about Kerala. Whether it be scuba diving, fishing in the backwaters, watching birds at the bird sanctuary or just relaxing on one of many beautiful beaches around this island town, there is something for everyone here! So whether it's your first time visiting India or just want another adventure while travelling around Asia - Kumarakom will surely exceed all expectations!
