Bikaner is a city in Rajasthan, India. It has been called the "city of lakes" for its numerous lakes and water bodies, which have attracted tourism and pilgrimage for centuries. The city was founded in 1551 by Rao Jodha, the grandson of Rao Bika who was himself the son-in-law of the king of Malwa. Bikaner served as a strategic outpost during much of ancient history when it was part of Delhi Sultanate before gaining independence as an independent princely state in 1847 AD until 1947 AD when it merged with other princely states into India under Directive Principles Of State Policy by then Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru
The annual two-day festival held in January showcases the cultural heritage of Bikaner and the significance of camels in the region. While there are many festivals throughout India that celebrate camel races, this one is unique because it also includes cultural performances by local artists. For example, you might see folk dancers performing traditional dances or even watch a man play sitar on stage as part of his performance!
The first day of this festival features competitions between groups of men dressed up as camels (known as “camel jockeys”) who race against each other on foot while carrying their riders on their backs. There are prizes awarded for winners; those who lose will receive prizes given out by spectators instead!

The Karni Mata Festival is celebrated on Makar Sankranti, which marks the beginning of winter season in India. The festival falls on April 21st every year, but it can be observed anytime between March-April due to its relation with solar cycle. The celebration includes various rituals like performing pooja ceremonies and making offerings to goddesses like Bishtiputra Kaalmati, Bishtijpathri Devi etc., followed by giving gifts to children as well as animals (such as rats).

The most important aspect of this festival is a procession which takes place every year in Bikaner city on Mahashivratri day (February 13). It starts from Maheshwar Temple and ends at Kailashpuri, where Lord Shiva resides. On this day, devotees perform pinda kabristans (sacrificial fires), which are later taken out to nearby villages or towns for distribution among people who have no ready-made food at home during winter season. The procession also includes various deities such as Murari Mangal, Kartikeya Chamundi, Nandi bull too along with other animals like peacock henna bird etc., who are considered sacred by Hindus since ancient times
Akshaya Tritiya, also known as Akshay Tritiya or Akshaya Vigraha, is an auspicious day that falls on the 15th day of Krishna Paksha in Bhadrapada nakshatra. It is believed to be the most auspicious time of the year for starting any new venture or undertaking a new journey. The name Akshay comes from Lord Vishnu, who represents creation and preservation. The devotees celebrate this festival by fasting and praying to gods and goddesses for their success in life.

The Teej Festival has been held at Bikaner since 16th century when it was known as 'Bundi'. This festival is celebrated with music, dance and colorful celebrations during this month.
Janmashtami is the festival that celebrates Lord Krishna's birth. The day marks the occasion when he was born from his mother, Devaki, and father Vasudeva. Janmashtami falls on the eighth lunar day in Chaitra month (March–April). It is celebrated with great devotion by all Hindus irrespective of their caste or creed.
The most important part of Janmashtmi celebrations includes “havan” – a ritual bath taken by womenfolk in their homes before starting any work after dawn hours or before going to bed at night time. This bath symbolizes purification from sin and pollution so that they can be ready for another year ahead without any hindrance

Holi is one of India's most celebrated festivals. It is a spring festival that celebrates love, friendship, togetherness and family values. Bikaner Heritage Festival - Learn about the week-long festival that showcases the rich cultural heritage of Bikaner through various events and activities.
The Bikaner Heritage Festival is one of the most popular festivals in Rajasthan, celebrating its rich history and heritage with a series of art exhibitions, musical performances, sports events and food stalls. The four-day event starts with a parade on January 9th which includes traditional dance groups from across Rajasthan as well as other countries like Pakistan, Nepal and Sri Lanka. Bikaner Camel Safari is a unique experience that allows you to explore the Thar Desert on a camel safari. The experience begins at 8:30am, when your guide will take you through the desert until 5pm, when we arrive at our destination for lunch and relaxation time before heading back out again. This tour lasts about 5-6 hours, with plenty of time for photographs along the way!
