Calicut is a pretty decent place to go if you have limited time. It's usually better than Kochi and Cochin, but it's still not as good as the other places I've been to.
Calicut has some nice museums and touristic attractions like Fort Kochi, Mattancherry Palace and Vadakkenadu temple complex etc.. These places are worth your time if you have enough money or patience! The Kochi beach is also really nice!
Calicut is a much better place to visit than Kochi and Cochin. It's less congested and has more things to do in terms of food, culture, shopping etc. The main attraction here is Meenakshipuram temple complex which is constructed over several years by Travancore king Swathi Thirunal Rama Varma Maharaj from 1808-1867 AD as part of his plan to rebuild the city after its destruction during Tipu Sultan’s reign (1789–99).
You can get there via bus or hired car depending on how long you want to stay there
The train is the cheapest way to travel between Calicut and Bangalore. A single round-trip ticket costs around Rs. 350, while two or three trips would cost you close to Rs. 500 each. If you're planning on taking the train, make sure to get your tickets in advance as they are not available day-to-day or even hour-to-hour at some stations; also keep in mind that there are only two trains per day (except Sundays) between these two towns so plan accordingly!
The main advantage of taking this mode of transport over other options such as buses is speed: it takes less than an hour by train from Bangalore while it could take more than 4 hours by bus depending on traffic conditions along with other variables such as availability of sleeper berths/couchettes etc., which means saving money both ways! Another plus point about taking public transportation like buses instead railways is comfort level because most coaches nowadays have air conditioning units installed inside them so passengers don't have too much trouble sleeping during long journeys."
It's not the most amazing place, but it's worth visiting if nothing else than an excuse to travel by train through Kerala. The former capital of Travancore is a small city with a big history and many interesting sites.
If you're looking for something extra-hectic, there are some interesting museums and historical monuments around Calicut that can keep your interest while you're there, including an old fort built during British rule (it was called Fort Kochi before). There’s also a National Park right outside town where elephants roam freely!
The Meenakshipuram temple complex is the main attraction of Calicut and makes for an ideal day trip from the city. It's easily reached via bus or taxi from the railway station, with many options available for onward travel to nearby towns and villages.
The main temple building is a 16th-century structure that contains many intricately carved wooden statues of various gods and goddesses, as well as a large image of Shiva called 'Nataraja'. It also houses several smaller shrines devoted to other deities such as Ganapathi or Murugan (the Tamil version of Varuna). If you're short on time but want to see something pretty impressive while you're in town then this place will suit your needs nicely!
You can visit Anamudi Peak, the highest peak in Kerala, located in the Anamudi mountain range. It is a popular hiking destination for tourists as well as trekkers who want to explore this part of Kerala. The area has many different species of birds that live there, so it is also a good place for birdwatching.
Anamudi Peak has an altitude of 3491 meters and lies on the border between Kerala and Tamil Nadu states. This mountain offers various activities such as trekking and climbing over its rugged terrain which makes it one of the most exciting tourist destinations in India!
You can get there via bus or hired car depending on how long you want to stay. It is also a good idea to take the train from Cochin to Calicut, as it will save time and money. If you want to fly instead of taking public transport, then Kerala State Airports Authority (KSA) has flights from Kochi International Airport to Cochin International Airport which is around 5 hours by air.
If you prefer sea travel then it's an easy ride: there are direct ferries connecting Calicut with Alleppey every day except Sundays at around 11 am and return at 4 pm

In 1510 Estevao Gomes followed up on this voyage with a fleet of six ships which included Vasco da Gama's great-grandson, Pedro Alvares Cabral (1501-1526). He reached Cochin on December 24th 1510 after sailing down south along west coast following a course from Cape Comorin. His explorations were cut short because he had been attacked by locals whom he described as fierce warriors; however these attacks were minor compared to what would happen later when Portuguese attempts at conquest failed due to lack of resources such as manpower & food supply!
