Lavasa is a planned city in the state of Maharashtra in India. It was developed by the government as an attempt to boost tourism and promote investment in the area. Lavasa lies near Mumbai, around 80 km from its main airport, Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport (CSIA). The city has been designed as a large-scale integrated development project including housing, commercial and recreational areas as well as Lavasa Gardens and parks. Lavasa was opened by Shri Jaywantrao Chavan on 1st April 2005 with an investment amounting to Rs 400 crore ($80 million). You can reach Lavasa by Air India and Indigo airlines. You can also take a flight from Mumbai, Delhi and Kolkata to Pune and then connect to Lavasa.

There is no direct rail service between Lavasa and Mumbai but you can travel via Diva-Vadodara, Diva – Surat or Bhuj Railway station on Konkan Railway line that passes through Solapur district of Maharashtra State in India.
