Cheeramangalam Bird Sanctuary is a bird sanctuary located in the heart of Calicut. It is also known as a home to many species of birds. The sanctuary has been declared as an Important Bird Area by BirdLife International, which means that it has high conservation value for birds and their habitats due to its size and diversity.

The sanctuary attracts thousands of tourists every year who visit this place for leisure or educational purposes. It offers wonderful views from atop Mount Palackal hilltop where you can see some parts of Kozhikode city below you along with coconut groves and paddy fields stretching out towards northwards towards Thamarassery town which lies on its southern edge near Munnar district headquarters area..

The Siva temple

The Siva temple is a famous tourist attraction in Calicut. It is located in the heart of Calicut City, Kerala and it's one of the oldest temples in India. The Siva Temple was built by Kulasekharasvamangalathu Varman (the ruler from Pala dynasty) to worship Lord Siva.

The architecture of this temple is very beautiful and modern at the same time with some traditional elements too like lotus flowers that decorate its walls and ceilings; it has three storeys but they don't have any steps leading up to them so you can climb quite easily even if you are not very tall or short!

The St George Church

The St George Church is located at the heart of Calicut city and was built in 1746. It is a Gothic style church with beautiful courtyard, clock tower and much more.

The clock tower has been renovated recently and now looks great!

The VirSwami Temple - Mallappally

The VirSwami Temple - Mallappally is located in the heart of Kerala and is dedicated to Lord Vishnu. It was built by King Raja Ravi Varma in 1799, when he took over Calicut from the Zamorin.

The temple stands on a mound with nine steps leading up to its sanctum sanctorum where there are two idols of Narsimha (the half-man and half-lion incarnation of Lord Vishnu) and Lakshmi Narasimha (his wife). This place also sees pilgrims from many parts of India every year on 17th March as they come here for their annual festival called "Virattu".

Christmas Carnival

Christmas Carnival is a popular festival in Calicut. It is held at the end of December and begins on the first day of January. The carnival has been organized by an NGO called ‘Cheruvu Durga’ since 2004. This festival is a three-day event featuring music, dancing, food stalls and other activities related to Christmas like decorating houses with lights etc..

The main attraction here are the fireworks shows that happen throughout each night during this period (from 4pm onwards). You can enjoy watching this from any place around town or even just catch some nearby bars where they would be playing live music during these nights which makes it even better!

Muthalathazhaga Rathri (The Night of Lights)

Muthalathazhaga Rathri is a festival that is celebrated in the month of December. It is celebrated to commemorate the birth of Lord Sree Krishna. The festival marks the beginning of winter and can be referred to as ‘The Night Of Lights’ because of the illumination at night time.

The best way to celebrate this festival is by going on an evening walk through town or visiting a temple with your family members during this period. It will be fun for everyone as you enjoy listening to traditional music and watching fireworks being shot up into the sky!

Idiomukkam Festival

The Idiomukkam Festival is a festival of the Hindus in Kerala. It is celebrated in the Malayalam month of Meenam (May–June).

The festival has been celebrated since ancient times and it has become an important part of Kerala’s cultural heritage. The main highlight of this celebration is that it involves a procession from one end to another end with people carrying huge umbrellas on their heads, which they use as fans during summertime heat waves when there are no trees nearby to provide shade.

Akshaya Tritiya (Easter Sunday)

Easter is a Christian holiday celebrated on the first Sunday after the first full moon of spring. Tharavadu and Thiruvathira are two festivals that take place in the same city, Kannur. The former is celebrated on the ninth day after Makaram (March-April), while the latter is celebrated on the eleventh day after Makaram.

Tharavadu is a festival dedicated to Lord Ayyappa and it brings together people from all walks of life who come together to offer their prayers to God. It’s also considered an important part of Hinduism as it symbolizes unity among various communities living in Kerala state including Hindus, Muslims and Christians (who mostly celebrate Christmas).

Mysore Dasara (Dussehra)

Mysore Dasara is a Hindu festival which commemorates the victory of Rama over Ravana. It is celebrated in Mysore, Karnataka, India.

The festival begins on October 17 and ends on October 21 with Dussehra being celebrated across India on Vijayadashami day (October 19). The main event during this period is called "Dasara Mela" or "Dasara Powada", where people gather at their local mandapams (temples) to watch the celebrations unfold through fireworks, music concerts and cultural performances.
