Things to do in Chardham for a Fantastic Holiday

Chardham is a region in the state of Uttarakhand, India. It is home to some of India's most sacred shrines and temples. The circuit comprises four temples (Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath and Badrinath) as well as other sites of religious importance. The area offers opportunities for adventure sports such as trekking, rafting and rock climbing.  

Visit the four sacred shrines of Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath, and Badrinath  

The four sacred shrines of Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath and Badrinath are located in the Yamunotri, Gangotri and Kedarnath valleys respectively. These four shrines are visited by pilgrims from all over the world who come to bathe at these sacred sites. The trekking routes to these places will be different for each pilgrim depending on their personal preference or fitness level; however there are certain things which you can do while visiting them:

If you’re looking for some adventure, make sure to visit Haridwar and Rishikesh. At Haridwar, the holy waters of Ganges are said to have healing powers on people who bathe in them. You can also see several temples around this area that are dedicated to Lord Shiva and his consort Parvati.  

Rishikesh is another place where people flock during the summer months as it has many attractions such as visits to ashrams (spiritual retreats) where they learn about Hinduism or participate in meditation sessions; visiting Vaishno Devi Temple; trekking up Mount Kailash; etc., all while enjoying some time away from their busy lives!  

Enjoy a scenic trekking expedition to the Valley of Flowers National Park  

The Valley of Flowers National Park, also known as the Kumaon Range National Park is a beautiful valley in the Garhwal Himalayas. The area has been declared as a wildlife sanctuary by Wildlife Institute of India and National Wildlife Foundation. The park houses many species of birdlife including all four types of peacocks that can be found in India: blue, green, white and yellow-winged peacocks.  

The Valley of Flowers National Park offers visitors an opportunity to enjoy a scenic trekking expedition through its forests filled with flowers such as roses, rhododendrons and lilies which bloom during spring season every year. Also visit Pauri Gaurikund which is considered one of the best places for trekking in Uttarakhand where you will see snow-capped peaks towering above your head while enjoying breathtaking views along way!  

Attend the evening aarti ceremony at Har ki Pauri in Haridwar  

The evening aarti is a religious ceremony which takes place in the sanctum sanctorum of Har ki Pauri. It is held on the full moon day of the month of Kartik (October/November). The evening aarti begins with chanting prayers and ends with an offering to Lord Shiva before leaving for their homes.  

The evening aarti is organized by the priests of Kashi Vishwanath Temple and is performed by them. It begins around 5:30pm and will last for about an hour. The procession starts from the Dharamshala building near Har ki Pauri and ends at the temple where it ends with an offering to Lord Shiva.  

Experience the thrill of white water rafting in the Ganges  

If you are looking for a fun and exciting way to experience the Ganges River, white water rafting is the perfect activity. The Ganges River can be experienced through rafting on its banks and through kayaking in its waters. Both activities provide tourists with a unique experience that offers them an opportunity to see and learn about Chardham’s wildlife as well as its rich history.  

Rafting parties are available from mid-June until mid-October every year, but they should be booked well in advance because demand is high during this period due to holidays like Diwali (Diwali), which falls on October 20th this year!  

Explore the ancient temples and cultural heritage sites in the region  

The region is home to numerous temples and heritage sites, which have been declared as UNESCO World Heritage Sites. These include:  

Kankali Tial Housing Colony: This is one of the largest housing colonies in Chardham and also has a large number of temples standing on its premises. It was built by Raja Balram Deva, who had migrated from Madhya Pradesh before starting construction work here. The colony is located right next to Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS) site at Sohra village; hence it houses many MGNREGS workers as well as daily wage labourers who work at various construction sites around town like hotels or markets etc., making it an ideal place for tourists visiting Chardham Valley region during their holidays!  

Mandirs - There are several temples scattered along with several other historical places related to Hinduism like Gopeshwar Temple near Kankali Tial Housing Colony; Shri Krishna Temple at Bhagwanpur village; Siddhivinayak Temple near Manjleshwar town; Mahadev Mandir at Ramnagarpur village etc., all within walking distance from each other! You can visit these sites easily without needing any car ride because most roads leading up towards them are paved so if you don't feel like walking too much then taxi service might be best option for you :)  

Take a scenic helicopter tour of the Chardham circuit  

A scenic helicopter tour is a journey through the Himalayas, which lets you see the landscape from above.  

It’s an adventurous experience that allows you to fly over some of the most spectacular parts of this region, including Kedarnath and Badrinath temples.  

The flight lasts between 20 minutes and one hour depending on how long it takes for your pilot to point out various sites along the way.

Another major attraction is Rangpur Fair, a colourful celebration held each year on the banks of the Ganges River near Rangpur city in Bangladesh. Other festivals include Holi, Diwali (the Festival of Lights), Durga Puja (the Festival of Durga) and Christmas celebrations too!

Witness the magnificent Kumbh Mela festival in Haridwar  

The Kumbh Mela is a festival held every 12 years in the town of Haridwar. The word "Kumbh" means "gnashing teeth" and refers to the fact that every twelve years, during each Kumbh Mela, Hindus gather for a pilgrimage to bathe in sacred rivers at certain points along their route. It is one of the biggest religious gatherings on Earth with more than 100 million people attending over an area covering 13 million square kilometres (5 million square miles).  

The first Kumbh Mela was held in Allahabad between January 14 and March 7, 1883 when nearly 70 million people participated in bathing ceremonies along Ganges River banks near Hardwar (now known as Haridwar).  

Visit the historical town of Joshimath and the Nanda Devi National Park  

Joshimath is a small town in the Garhwal region of Uttarakhand. It is famous for its ancient temples and monuments, which date back to an era when Joshimath was part of Kumaon region. The Nanda Devi National Park is also located here, making it an ideal place to visit if you are keen on nature or wildlife tours.  

The temple complex of Bhairavnath Temple has been built by King Prithivi Narayan Shah during his reign between 1729 to 1742 A.D., while its adjoining Shivlinga temple was constructed by his son Raja Man Singh after he ascended throne as king after his father's death at age 24 years old (1742).
