Things to do in Silchar for a Fantastic Holiday

Things to do in Silchar for a Fantastic Holiday

Silchar is a beautiful city in the state of Assam. It is known for its ancient Silchar Temples and pilgrimage sites, palaces and forts. The city has plenty of things to do and explore, including tea plantations and gardens which are famous throughout India. Here are some suggestions on what you can do while visiting Silchar:

Visit Khaspur for historical charm

Khaspur is a small village in the state of Assam. It is located on the banks of Barak River, which flows through this region for about 28 kilometers before it joins with Brahmaputra river at Dibrugarh district. The village has been inhabited since ancient times, and many historical relics can be seen here including temples dedicated to Goddess Kali, Lord Shiva and Lord Vishnu. Khaspur attracts tourists from all over India as well as neighbouring countries such as Bangladesh or Nepal because of its historical charm that makes it an ideal destination for travelers looking for something different from their usual itinerary.

Enjoy tea at Bhubaneswari Tea Estate

Bhubaneswari Tea Estate is a great place to visit. It's located in the heart of Silchar, and it has been operating for more than 100 years. The estate has many things to do: There are several beautiful Silchar Gardens and parks on the property, as well as a tea museum that shows how tea was grown there during colonial times. You can also visit an old mill where they used to make black tea using hand pumps instead of machines now used everywhere else in India today! The Bhubaneswari estate is famous for its teas (they use only organic ingredients), but you should also try their other products like biscuits or chocolates—they're delicious!

Explore the ruins of Kachari Fort

If you're looking for a unique place to stay and explore, Silchar is the perfect choice. The Kachari Fort was built by the Kachari chiefs in the 17th century to protect their town from invaders. It's now a UNESCO World Heritage Site, with several museums dedicated to its history, as well as being open to visitors during certain times of day (check out our guide on how much time you should spend at each museum).

If you love history or architecture, this fort will be right up your alley!

Take a boat ride on the Barak River

If you're looking for something to do on your holiday, one of the best ways to see the area is by taking a boat ride on Barak River. There is a pier at Silchar railway station where boats leave every hour until 6:30pm. It costs Rs 50 per person and will take you around 15 minutes to reach Rohtas Island where you can enjoy an island picnic with your friends or family members. The best time for this trip would be during sunset because when we reached Rohtas Island there was still some light left in the evening sky which made it even more beautiful than usual!

If you get wet from rain then don't worry about that because we all did :) However if it does start raining again then there are few options available such as staying inside our room or going back home before coming back again later on (which would cost us around 10k). We chose not to go back early because we wanted some fun with our friends who came along but if they want us back early then they should pay out Rs 1000/- each person through cash so nobody gets cheated by any means :)

Trek to Bhuban Hill for a panoramic view

Bhuban Hill is a great place to visit. It's also a great place to relax and enjoy nature. You can get here by taking bus from Silchar Railway Station or you can hire a car from any hotel there. The best time to visit this hill is during monsoon season as then there will be lots of flowers blooming around on its slopes which makes it even more beautiful!

The trek starts at about 3 km away from Silchar Railway Station, so it takes about 2 hours if you're not used to walking long distances in heels (which I'm not). After reaching Bhuban Hill, we walked towards south west direction where we found some beautiful hills covered with thick green vegetation including wild mango trees growing along with wheat fields around them; later on these fields gave way into tea gardens which were nothing like what I expected based on my previous knowledge of Indian tea drinking culture :)

Shop for handicrafts at Gandhi Bag

Gandhi Bag is a handicrafts market located in Silchar. The market is popular among tourists and locals alike, as it has a wide variety of handicrafts, souvenirs, and other goods that can be purchased at affordable prices. The market boasts of having around 20 shops selling different types of goods including clothes, jewellery, home decor items etc. It also offers an opportunity to buy handmade products directly from their makers who work here every day!

These shows are generally attended by students from different colleges as well as teachers who come here to attend these events regularly since they are free!

Take a dip in the hot water springs at Pobitora

Silchar is a famous tourist destination in North East India. It is a city that has been expanding rapidly and has become one of the largest cities in Assam. The town has numerous Silchar hotels, bars, and Silchar restaurants to cater to its growing number of tourists who visit this region every year.

The Pobitora hot springs are located on the outskirts of Silchar city near the Barak Valley National Park which makes it an excellent place to relax after a long day’s drive or even just an overnight stay at another tourist spot nearby like Joypurhat Airport or Jowai Railway Station (for trains). There are several ways you can get there: by car; bus; train/train stations—and even boats!

Bird watching at Maniharan Tunnel

Once you are ready to head out of Silchar, it is best to hire a car. Car hire is available at most travel agencies in Silchar and Kolkata. This can be a good option if you wish to explore the region on your own but it also depends on what kind of vehicle you need for your trip.

The Maniharan Tunnel is a popular spot for bird watchers because almost all migratory birds fly through this area during their long journeys from one continent to another. There are many species of birds here including Indian Blue Peacock, Painted Stork and Golden-billed Wagtail among others which make this place very attractive for tourists who wish to see these beautiful birds up close or even take photographs with them!
