Introduction

The Srimanta Sankardev International Festival of Music and Dance (SSIFMAD) is an annual cultural festival held at Sonagachi area in Kolkata, India. It was started in 1999 by Assam State Institute for Culture and Art (ASICA) under Srimanta Sankardev Foundation to promote the spiritual values through music and dance forms. The festival has been organized by ASICA every year since then with a different theme each year like “Songs from the Heart” or “A Celebration of Assam Culture” etc., which reflects its aim to promote local culture throughout India as well as abroad through this event

Brahmaputra Culture Week - An annual event to celebrate the diversity of cultures in Assam

Brahmaputra Culture Week is a cultural festival which sees people from different parts of India converge in Guwahati to celebrate their heritage. It takes place at the National Library Hall and is a platform for the exchange of ideas and culture.

The first edition was held in 2013 with participation from artists, writers, dancers and musicians. The second edition saw participation from more than 1000 participants including students from various universities across Assam as well as other parts of India like Bihar & Jharkhand who came together on this occasion to promote scientific temper among youth through dance forms such as Kathakali & Mohiniyattam etc., which were introduced by Pandit Shankarrao Bhosale during this time period (1912-1914).
