An art exhibition is a show of works by an artist, usually including paintings, sculptures and other visual art forms. Exhibitions can be organized by amateur or professional groups such as galleries and museums.
The first use of the word "exhibition" comes from French where it means “to show off” or present something publicly. Artists have been displaying their work since the dawn of time, but it wasn't until the late 19th century that people began organizing them in large groups called galleries (or "salons").
An arts festival is similar to an exhibition except that instead of showing off beautiful pieces of art made by one particular person (like at an art museum), these events focus on showcasing all kinds of creativity—music performances; dance classes; food tastings; activities for children etc., all at once!
