The festival commemorates Lord Rama's victory over Ravana who abducted Sita from her husband's kingdom with an army consisting mostly elephants. In addition to lighting lamps on this day, people also perform dances to celebrate their victory over darkness and ignorance through lightening up our lives by adding joy into them through dance!
Shekhawati has a lot of festivals and events that you can enjoy. The following are some of the upcoming ones:
-Shekhawati Festival, on September 8th-9th and 10th at Manji Ka Bagh Palace (Location: Sambhar Lake) - cost Rs. 1000 per person for entry fee; expected attendance 100-150 people per day; food stalls will be available on site as well.
-Shekhawati Festival at Nathdwara (Location: Nathdwara) - date TBA but it's free for all guests! They'll have Fast Food Restaurants in Shekhawati too with different cuisines like Indian vegetarian food, Chinese cuisine etc., so don't worry about getting hungry during your visit!
-Holi Festival in Udaipur (Date TBA). This festival lasts for five days from Holi until Holika Dahan which happens on Shukla Paksha Tritiya or Krishna Paksha Tritiya depending on where in India you live (depending on whether they celebrate their own version). It's an important religious festival celebrated by Hindus across India especially in Northern regions such as Himachal Pradesh where people wear new clothes according to age groups/categories like kids under 12 years old etc..
