Wayanad is a beautiful hill station located in the Western Ghats of Kerala. It has a rich culture and history that dates back to thousands of years ago. Wayanad Festivals Celebrated in 2023- 24:
Onam Festival: Onam (also spelled as Onam) falls on the first day of Malayalam month Meenam which starts in August every year. This festival marks the beginning of harvest season in Kerala and also celebrates Lord Ayyappa's arrival into earth through Brahma as an infant to take birth on earth after killing demon king Mahishasura Mardhankaryar who was destroying mankind with his poison arrows capable of killing anyone whom he aimed it at!
Wayanad is a district of Kerala state in India with a population of 776,493 as per 2011 census. It is located on the banks of river Bharathapuzha, which joins Kallar River at Idaikkal. The name "Kerala" means “beautiful” and refers to the beauty and natural richness of this region. Wayanad was formerly known as Haripad Taluk till 1934 when it was renamed after native poet Adi Shankara who composed many songs about this place.
Wayanad is a beautiful place to visit. It's a great place to visit in the summer and one of the best hill stations in Kerala, with an annual average temperature of 31 degrees Celsius. The district offers you some of the best places for adventure sports like trekking, rock climbing, river rafting and paragliding. Yasothonam - A festival celebrating the birth of Lord Ayyappa is held every year during June-July. It is a religious festival that celebrates the Hindu God, Vishnu’s victory over Ravana during his marriage to Sita (the princess) after being banished from heaven by Vishnu himself. In this context, it refers to the famous story where Ravana abducted Sita from her husband's kingdom; thus turning into an enemy with him. However, after being defeated by Lord Rama using his power as well as weapons such as “Vajra” or “Chakra” that he had received from Shiva himself when they visited Mount Kailas together

Wayanad is known for its religious importance as well as its cultural diversity, with many temples throughout the region. It's home to several important Hindu festivals like Onam and Eid ul-Fitr (which marks the end of Ramadan), but also has several Christian churches and mosques scattered throughout this area.
The history of Wayanad dates back thousands of years ago when it was founded by two brothers named Vitthala and Vimala who were born on Mount Maveli after they left their mother’s womb while she was pregnant with them since they had been cursed by Sage Soorapurushana that they would die if born again after seeing their mother naked during delivery process which resulted into miscarriage so he ordered his wife Parvathi Devi (also known as Parvathi Devi) called Durga Muhurtam meaning 'the day when goddess Durga killed demon Mahishasura'.

Wayanad is located approximately 400 km from Kochi, the state capital of Kerala. The Wayanad nearest railway station is at Kannur and it takes about 40 minutes to reach there by bus or train. A ferry service is also available which can take you across the river Periyar from Kavilipuzha to Thalayolaparamba, a distance of 18km with an approximate travel time of 2 hours 30 minutes on foot. There are other domestic airports at Kozhikkode (60 km) & Shoranur (80 km). If you want to fly your own private jet then Shoranur airport has international flights while Cochin International Airport has direct connections with Dubai etc., so these two airports may be preferable options.
While you're at the festival, you can also shop for souvenirs and gifts. This is an important part of any festival, because shopping is one of the best ways to spend time with friends and family. In fact, shopping is so popular that it has become its own event: "Shopathon" happens every year in Wayanad during Christmas season!
Shopping at festivals is also great because there are lots of items made locally by local artisans that make great gifts for friends or family members back home.
