Bikaner is a beautiful city in Rajasthan that has been the capital of the state since 1545. It's known for its rich history and cultural heritage, as well as being home to several important temples and shrines.
Bikaner is a city in the Indian state of Rajasthan. It is the administrative headquarters of Bikaner district and also its largest city, with an estimated population of 1,152,672 as per provisional data from 2011 census. The city has been selected as one of the 100 Indian cities to be developed as a smart city under PM Modi's flagship Smart Cities Mission scheme. The large number of tourists visiting this place makes it one among India’s most visited destinations for adventure sports like paragliding, hang gliding etc., which are popularly known as ‘flying high’ here or elsewhere across world
Junagarh Fort is located in the center of Bikaner City, and was built by Maharaja Amar Singh Tomar. This fort has a history that dates back to 1354 AD. It is one of the most beautiful examples of Rajput architecture in India, with its walls adorned with beautiful sculptures and paintings depicting scenes from mythology and history.
This UNESCO World Heritage Site also houses an extensive collection of manuscripts written by medieval Indian scholars such as Amir Khusrau (1325-1389), Hemachandra Sahadeva (11th century) and Jagaddhatri Devi (1449-1519). The fort also features many inscriptions written by various kings who governed this region during different times throughout history.
Junagarh Fort has become one of the most popular tourist destinations in Rajasthan because it offers visitors an opportunity to explore its many attractions including palaces, temples and gardens within its walls while enjoying views across Bikaner cityscape below them!
Karni Mata Temple is a beautiful, ancient Bikaner temple and pilgrimage sites. The temple is dedicated to the goddess Karni Mata, who has been worshipped here since at least the 7th century AD.
The rats that live in this area are sacred animals and considered a part of Karni Mata herself by many Hindus. It's said that if you see a rat on its hind legs with its front paws tucked under its belly, then it means good luck!
Lalgarh Palace is a glimpse into the opulent lifestyle of the royal families of Bikaner, as showcased in this palace. Located at an elevation of 800 meters above sea level, it was built by Maharaja Lal Singh, who ruled over Bikaner from 1857 to 1869. He chose this site because it had a commanding view over his capital city and its surrounding area.
Lalgarh Palace has two parts: an outer walled structure that borders on five acres (2 hectares) and an inner courtyard decorated with precious stones like lapis lazuli and red coral, which can be seen today even after so many years have passed since its construction. The outer walls feature intricate designs inspired by European architecture; some sections are covered with stucco while others are left open allowing visitors to view their surroundings through windows or doors leading directly into rooms inside these structures!
Gajner Wildlife Sanctuary is a wildlife sanctuary in Bikaner, Rajasthan. The area was declared a wildlife sanctuary in 1968 and covers an area of 1,180 km2. It is located near the Aravali Range at an elevation of 1,200 metres above sea level. It has been declared as one of India’s Important Bird Areas (IBA) by Birdlife International because it supports more than 100 species including wild ass, blackbuck antelope and Indian elephant while being home to other important animals such as nilgai deer or chital deer; gaur (a type of bison); chinkara (Indian leopard cat); sambar stag; sloth bear; striped hyena etc., which are found here in abundance during their annual migrations from one place to another within this large tract covering nearly 80% part covered with thick forests on both sides of nullahs running through this region making sure that there would be no disturbance whatsoever caused due interference from human activities like cutting down trees those found outside protected areas or damaging them by digging holes into which animals fall down due accidents caused by humans themselves who have no respect for nature whatsoever!
The National Research Centre on Camel is a unique research center dedicated to the study of camels, with information on their history and uses. The centre has many indoor and outdoor exhibits that tell you more about the animals in our lives:
Camels are used in many different ways throughout India. They are used as pack animals for carrying goods or people, they help people with disabilities walk because their legs can’t bend under heavy loads like other animals do (like elephants), they are also used as entertainment at festivals like Holi where kids play with them by throwing colored powder at each other while chasing after some red-dressed characters who run away from them! There’s even a sports event called “Camel Race” which takes place every year during Holi festival!
Bhandasar Jain Temple is one of the most significant temples in Bikaner. The temple was built by Maharaja Jaswant Singhji, who ruled from 1815 to 1849. The architecture and sculptures are very intricate and beautiful, with a lot of carvings depicting different scenes from Hindu mythology.
The major attractions at this temple include:
A large statue of Lord Vishnu with Lakshmi on his lap;
A floor made entirely out of mirror glass;
Large murals depicting various scenes from Hindu mythology;
Four pillars that support an architrave (the upper part) over them with elephants carved on it
A treasure trove of artifacts and relics from Bikaner's rich history, including Rajasthani art, weaponry, and manuscripts. You can see an incredible array of swords (from the 13th to 17th centuries), daggers, lances and shields. The museum also has a collection of books written by local poets like Premchand who lived in this area during British rule.
The Ganga Singh Museum is located in the old city center so it's easy to get there on foot or by rickshaw from any part of town. It's open daily from 9:00am to 5:00pm with extended hours during festivals such as Holi when they'll stay open until 7:00pm!
The Rampuria Haveli is a group of beautiful mansions built by wealthy merchants in the 18th and 19th centuries. The houses were designed by famous architects, such as Lal Chand Uchh, Govardhan Singh Rathore and Sethji Nathmalji Jhaveri. Each house has an intricate decoration that makes it stand out from its neighbours.
The Rampuria Haveli was first constructed by Phulan Mal’s son Ramchandran Singh after he bought land from his father-in-law Raja Ramchandrasen in 1719 AD. He then built another house on this terrace which housed his wife Harracharan Lachhu Shah and their five daughters until they died at different ages; only one girl survived into adulthood before she married Maharaja Bhagwan Das (father of Maharaja Bahadur Moharram Singh). She took over many responsibilities within this household including cooking, cleaning etc., providing them with all necessities needed during those times when there were no shops nearby where people could buy things like foodstuffs or clothes."
Shiv Bari Temple is an important pilgrimage site dedicated to Lord Shiva. The temple was built in 1616 by Raja Jaiswal of Bikaner, who was also a great devotee of the deity. The temple has been declared as a protected monument by Archaeological Survey of India (ASI).
The main deity at this temple is Lord Shiv and he has three faces: one with a moustache, another with a beard and third with no facial hair at all!
There are several other deities inside the main hall including Ganesh, Kartikeya & Parvati - all gods from Hindu mythology.
Camel Safari: An adventurous way to explore the desert landscape of Bikaner, with information on the different types of safaris available.
There are many ways you can experience this majestic region. You can choose to go on a camel safari, a jeep safari or even a camel and jeep safari! The choice is yours.
Kote Gate: A popular shopping destination, with information on the various local handicrafts and souvenirs available.
Shri Krishna Mandir: The temple is thought to have been built in 1025 AD by Raja Bhim Singh, whose tomb can be seen within its compound. It features an octagonal tower that was added later to protect it from attacks by Muslim invaders who had encroached upon Bikaner after its fall from power in 1193 AD.
Bikaner Museum: This museum houses a collection of items belonging to historical significance such as coins, sculptures etc., as well as display cases containing valuable ornaments worn by women during festivals like Holi (also known as Dussehra), Diwali etc.,
The Jain Temple Bhandasiya is another stunning temple, known for its beautiful paintings and intricate carvings. Located in Bikaner, this temple was built by King Bhimdev II (1429-1445) as a tribute to Lord Adinath. It’s a popular pilgrimage site for Hindus and Buddhists alike who come here to pray for peace and prosperity.
The temple has been restored several times over the years but somehow retains its original look despite all these renovations!
Devi Kund Sagar is located in Bikaner, which is about 75km from Jodhpur. The temple can be reached by road or rail and has been declared a monument of national importance.
The history of this sacred site dates back to the 8th century AD when it was built on an ancient lakebed by King Bhima Rishi, who later became known as Bheema of Mahabharata fame (the epic). The temple complex also houses several other temples dedicated to different gods including Lakshmi Narayan, Hanuman and Shiva-Parvati.
Sadul Singh Museum: A museum dedicated to showcasing the royal heritage of Bikaner, with information on the life and times of the city's past rulers. The museum is located in Bikaner city and is open to public.
The museum contains several artifacts related to the history of this region as well as its culture, including paintings by artists such as Raja Ravi Varma (1776–1856), who was one of India’s most famous painters during his time period; jewellery made from precious stones like emeralds and rubies; furniture from different periods throughout history; weapons used by warriors during battles against foreign invaders like Alexander Cunningham or Maharaja Akbar Shah Ghazi II who ruled over parts of present-day India for some time after 1536 AD before being defeated by Babur Khan Lodhi at Battle Of Panipat near Delhi/Panipat in 1526 AD when he was defeated by Humayun Shah Mirza Amurath Bey Mughal Emperor Humayun Shah Mirza Amurath Bey Mughal Emperor after losing control over Kabul due to Mongol invasion led by Genghis Khan #1).
