The main attraction of this place is its very old temple dedicated to Lord Shiva called Shingleswarar Temple which dates back to 1000 years ago. The main deity in this temple is a stone lingam with a circumference of 45 feet (14 meters). This divine stone was brought from Kashi Vishwanath Temple at Varanasi by Raja Hiriya Naidu when he got separated from his wife during a pilgrimage tour to South India in 11th century AD!

The lake is located at an elevation of 1,660 feet above sea level and has an area of about 25 acres. The water flow into this lake comes from several streams that originate from various hills surrounding it. This makes it one of the most beautiful lakes in Chikmagalur district with its clear blue waters and greenish bank lined with bamboos plants on both sides (from north to south).
Sringeri: A spiritual town located near Chikmagalur, Sringeri is known for its ancient Chikmagalur Temples and pilgrimage sites and holy sites. You can explore the town and learn about its rich history and culture.
The Sringeri mutt is one of the most famous temples in India. It houses a large number of deities, including Lord Vinayaka (Shiva), Mahavishnu (Vishnu) and Durga (Parvati). The temple was built by King Raja Veera Ballala III during 1665-1670 AD when he wanted to worship Lord Shiva at this place as well as at Pune in Maharashtra State as per his wish.
There are many other interesting places to visit such as Keshavananda Hall Museum which houses sculptures from different periods such as prehistoric times through medieval period upto modern age; Agamangalam Temple where you will find sculptures depicting various gods like Vishnu, Brahma etc.; Yelamanthi Amman Temple where devotees perform rituals honouring their ancestors by lighting lamps before idols representing them; Sri Jaya Gopala Swami Temple - built over 200 years ago during 1790s AD with carved pillars depicting scenes from Hindu scriptures etc.; Govinda Narasimha Swamy Temple - named after God Krishna's childhood friend who helped him defeat demons called Bali & Kali during his exile period on earth with help from other gopis called gopis because they were very beautiful girls who loved him unconditionally
