Introduction to Chittorgarh

Chittorgarh Fort

Chittorgarh Fort is located in the city of Chittorgarh, Rajasthan. It is one of the largest forts in India and was built by the Rajput rulers of Mewar between 1488 and 1559 A.D. The fort was constructed on an elevated hilltop that provides a commanding view over surrounding areas as well as access to water sources such as wells, tanks and riverside streams.

The main entrance to this complex includes four large arched gates that are decorated with beautiful sculptures depicting various scenes from Hindu mythology including Karna fighting against Arjuna (the protagonist from Mahabharata), Rama killing Ravana (the antagonist from Ramayana) or Krishna playing an instrument called vina which he used to entertain King Dasarha's courtiers during his stay at Mathura before leaving for Dwaraka kingdom where he lived happily ever after with his wife Rukmini who later gave birth to Balaram who grew up into king Dhritrashtra who married Gandhari who had two sons named Pandava Bhima and Pandu

Vijay Stambh

This is the tallest tower in Chittorgarh and was built to commemorate the victory of Mewar over the Sultanate of Malwa in the 15th century. The Vijay Stambh has been declared as a heritage monument by Archaeological Survey of India (ASI). It is one of seven forts built by Rana Kumbha, who ruled from 1509-1543 CE and fought against the Muslim rulers from Delhi.

The Vijay Stambh was constructed using sandstone and lime mortar with fine construction details such as ridges, spires, arches and carved doors on top. A stone staircase connects it with other parts of this fort city too!

Kirti Stambh

The Kirti Stambh (Tower of Fame) is a seven-story tower adorned with intricate carvings and dedicated to the first Jain Tirthankara. It stands in the city center, and can be easily accessed via a large staircase that leads up from one end of Chittorgarh Fort to its base.

The tower was built during 14th century by King Madan Singh of Mewar who wanted an elaborate memorial for his father Balaram Singh who was murdered by his son Prince Udaipur after which he ruled as a minor prince until he died at age 15 years old. It is located on the Chittorgarh Banks and ATMs. UNESCO has declared Chittorgarh Fort as a World Heritage Site. History The fort was constructed in 13th century by Rawal Ratan Singh.
