I have been to Valparai several times, and each time I visit it's like a fresh experience. The beauty of this place is unparalled. Whether you want to explore the forests or take in some views from high places, there's something for everyone!
The Aliyar Dam is a dam built across the Vaigai River in Tirunelveli district of Tamil Nadu. It was completed in 1968 and has become one of the major tourist attractions in Valparai district. It is also popular as a picnic spot, especially during weekends when people from nearby cities visit this place to enjoy themselves with their families or friends.
The Vellamalai Tunnel is located in the Vellamalai Hills and was constructed between 1850 and 1854. It is 2.5 km long, with a height of 100 meters above ground level and has been used by pilgrims since its construction.
The tunnel can be accessed by foot only but there are plenty of ways you can get there:
You can drive or even hike up to the top of Puthanatharai Hill, which offers spectacular views over Valparai town as well as nearby mountains such as Pothireddi (also known as 2nd highest mountain in India). Once at the top, take one of many routes down into the valley below where you'll find yourself surrounded by greenery with no signs of civilization around you except for maybe some cows grazing peacefully on grassy hillsides!
Athirappilly Waterfalls is a beautiful waterfall located in Vellamalai, Tamil Nadu. It is a natural waterfall formed by the Vellamalai river that flows through this place. The waterfall has three tiers and it's considered to be one of the most beautiful waterfalls in India.
Athirappilly Waterfalls was once known as "Mullai" and was later renamed to Athirappilly when a small village was built near it by an Englishman named William Henry Cooper in 1849 after whom Athirappilly Falls came into existence.
The Balaji Temple is located in the heart of Valparai, near the town's main bus stand. The temple was built in 1809 and is dedicated to Lord Balaji, also known as Sankaranarayanan or Siva.
The temple has an impressive gopuram (temple tower) that rises from a small hillock overlooking the town. This tower serves as an entrance for visitors into this sacred place where people come to worship their gods and goddesses with devotion through prayer rituals or by performing pooja ceremonies on special occasions such as weddings or births.
The main features of this Hindu shrine include:
A large statue of Lord Balaji inside its sanctum sanctorum; this statue represents him as sitting cross-legged on his throne with a lotus flower between his hands while holding two swords above his head; he is surrounded by four other statues depicting different forms of Vishnu: Varaha (boar), Narasimhar (man-lion), Vamanadevan(fishman) etc.; these images are made out of stone with black paint applied over them so they look like metal ones instead!
The Sholayar Dam is a man-made lake located in the heart of Valparai Hills, at an altitude of 1,400 m above sea level. It was built in the mid-1960s and has a capacity of 4.5 million cubic meters. The dam provides water for irrigation purposes and power generation through hydropower projects downstream on Palk Strait (near Vythiri).
The dam itself is surrounded by lush green hills covered with pine trees and cedars which give it an airy look that makes it appear like an island floating on top of its reservoir waters
Kadamparai Waterfalls is a beautiful waterfall located in the Kadamparai village. The waterfall is popular among tourists and locals alike. It's a good place to take a dip and enjoy the refreshing water of this natural wonderland.
Parambikulam Wildlife Sanctuary is a beautiful place to visit. It's also a great place for wildlife safaris, birdwatching and other activities like hiking. The best time to visit the sanctuary is between October and March, when the weather is pleasant and there are fewer tourists around. If you're looking for something more active than just relaxing on your beach towel, this may not be your ideal destination but it's worth checking out nonetheless!
If you’re looking for a place to spend some time, Nallamudi View Point is the highest point in the Nilgiris. It’s also a great place to go hiking, bird watching and more!
Nallamudi View Point has numerous activities that can be done there including horse riding. You can also go on a safari where you will get to see lots of animals like elephants and tigers up close.
If you're looking for a way to experience the beauty of Valparai, there's no better way than by taking a boat ride. The Kadambarai Dam is one of the most impressive sights in town, and it's easy to see why!
The ride on this waterway takes you upriver from Kodaikanal Lake through a series of rapids before entering Cuddalore Port. It's only about an hour-long trip but will give you plenty of time to relax and enjoy nature at its finest—and maybe even spot some dolphins swimming alongside your boat!
To get to the Loam's View Point, take a bus or taxi from Valparai. The journey will take about 30 minutes and cost around Rs 250 ($3).
Once you're there, take in the panoramic views of hills and valleys that stretch out before you. You can also visit nearby villages like Kottamparai and Kudalur where there are many Temples and pilgrimage sites that were built by Lord Shiva himself!
If you want something more active than just taking photos in front of nature's beauty, head over to nearby Kallar River where tourists have been known to swim with crocodiles (we recommend only doing this if they're not eating).
If you're looking for a place to get more adventurous and take in the sights, then Monkey Falls is the perfect destination. Located in the hills of Vellamalai Wildlife Sanctuary, this waterfall is a popular tourist attraction that can be reached via hiking or by taking a tour from Valparai.
The waterfall itself is actually quite beautiful—it's located at an elevation of 1,500 feet above sea level with water falling down from a height of about 25 feet. You'll need to be careful when visiting this area as there are several paths leading up to it; however, if you take your time and follow them all carefully it'll definitely pay off!
The Karamalai Annai Velankanni Church is a beautiful church located in the village of Karamalai. It is a historic landmark and is a popular tourist destination in Valparai.
The church was built by Father Alphonse Puthiappan, who came from France to serve as an assistant priest at this church. The statue inside the main hall depicts Jesus Christ with his hands pressed together as if he was praying or blessing people coming through his doorways. Outside there are shrines dedicated to each saint that have been installed over time so they can be visited when you visit this place!
Valparai is a beautiful destination with many attractions to explore. With so many things to do, you may find yourself wondering which one to choose first! However, if you want to get the most out of your trip, it’s important that you plan ahead and select only one or two activities at a time. This way, you can focus on each activity instead of being overwhelmed by too much information about all of them at once.
