Almora is a town located in Uttarakhand, India. It is situated at an elevation of 1,600 m above sea level and has a population of around 18,000 people as of 2011 census. The town was established in the 17th century by Raja Ajit Singh Chauhan who ruled over the area until 1653 AD when he lost it to Maharaja Pratap Singh Deo of Garhwal Kingdom. The town has been declared asTourist information centers in Almora .Government of Uttarakhand due to its beauty and history.[1]
Almora is situated in the lap of the Himalayas and offers some of the most stunning panoramic views of the mountains. The town itself has a great atmosphere, with its ancient temples, hilltop fortresses and sprawling markets. You can also go for adventure sports such as paragliding or mountain climbing at nearby sights like Phalaudi Falls and Kedarnath Temple.

The main attraction of Almora is Dhauli Devi Temple which has been built in 14th century AD by King Bhim Dev II of Kahlur dynasty who ruled over Malwa region during his reign from 1342-1349 CE.. The Temples and pilgrimage sites in Almora dedicated to Goddess Durga was renovated by Maharaja Pratap Singh Deo (1914-1943) who renovated several temples in lieu of his poor health condition at that time when he came back home after serving in World War I as an officer under British Army service here since 1914 till 1943 when he passed away due to heart attack caused by pneumonia while serving on frontline during World War II against Germans who had invaded India with their invasion forces into Punjab region where most people lived there before Partition riots took place between Muslims & Hindus after independence
