The facility was originally built by Bapuji Pandurang Vithalbhai Bhagwan Joshi as an amusement park for his family and friends, but soon enough it became popular among residents as well as tourists who came to visit Thane during weekends or holidays. The Kanheri Caves are located in the Kanheri Hills and are a UNESCO World Heritage Site. They are one of the most important Buddhist sites in Maharashtra and you can learn about their history here, as well as see some beautiful stone carvings that have survived over many centuries.
The caves were built by King Bhagiratha who had gone on a pilgrimage to Buddha's birthplace after hearing how he was born through an eggshell. He wanted to build a temple for him at his birthplace but could not find any stones suitable enough for building it so he went on another pilgrimage again this time taking with him all kinds of stones from all over India so they could be used for constructing this temple instead! It took around 20 years before finally completing what would later become known as "Kanheri caves".
The cave complex consists of five different caves which have been carved out using various types of rock quarried from nearby hills including granite & limestone which gives them their amazing sculptures within!
Masunda Lake is a natural lake in Thane district of Maharashtra. It is located in the Thane Municipal Corporation and has a total area of 2.5 km2. The lake has water from various sources like rain, rivers and springs, but most of it comes from rainfall alone. The lake was created by the damming up of a small stream flowing down from Manikdoh village near Kalyan to form an artificial lake which became popular among tourists as well as locals alike due to its scenic beauty and relaxation properties after work hours or during weekends when there's no traffic jam on roads leading here!
