Upcoming Events & Festivals in Mangalore

Mangalore is a city with a rich history. It has been inhabited since as far back as 3000 BCE. During that time, it was one of the most prominent trading ports in India and its economy grew prosperous due to its position on the Arabian Sea. The city is also home to several temples including Lord Shiva's temple in Kannur district and the Someswara Temple which houses a huge golden idol weighing around 1 tonne!

Mangalore Food Festival

Mangalore Food Festival is a food festival held every year in Mangalore. It is a three-day event which is held in the month of November. The festival was organized by the Mangalore Food Festival Foundation, with financial support from Department of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, Government of India and others.

The main objective behind this festival was to increase awareness about healthy eating habits among people so that they could lead an active lifestyle without having any health issues related to their diet choices or lifestyle habits

Kambala Festival

Kambala Festival is a Tulu festival that is celebrated in the month of March. The festival lasts for ten days and it is celebrated in the region of Udupi, particularly at Madhugiri and Kallada.

Kambala Festival is also referred to as "Kollu" or "Rathakudi". It consists of bullock cart races, horse races, cockfights and dancing competitions called "Tirasavana".

Mangaluru International Airport Carnival

Mangalore International Airport Carnival is an annual event held in the month of February. It is a cultural festival that was started by the local people, who wanted to celebrate their city with all its glory. The carnival organized Near Airport  and it has been going on for more than 15 years now.

The MIAL Carnival showcases various cultural performances from different parts of India, like Kathakali dance or Mohiniyattom from Kerala state and Bhavai from Andhra Pradesh state. There are also several stalls selling food items such as seafood curry, samosas etc., which attract tourists every year because these stalls offer unique flavours not available elsewhere in India!

Tulu Drama Festival

The Tulu Drama Festival is a festival of the Tulu language, held every year in the month of March at the Kannada Sahitya Parishat. It is organized by the Tulu Sahitya Academy, which was established by Dr. B Raghupathi in 1989.

The first edition of this event was held from 31st March to 6th April 1980 when it was inaugurated by then Chief Minister Dr M H Patil with an aim to promote literature among students and teachers alike through plays etc.,

Karavali Utsav

Karavali Utsav is a cultural festival held in Mangalore. This event is one of the most popular festivals in Karnataka, and it is held at Dasara (wedding season) time.

The first day of Karavali Utsav is dedicated to Lord Ganesh's birthday. The second day celebrates Lord Shiva's birthday. On the third day, people celebrate Saraswathi Puja by performing various rituals and offering flowers on different deities like Shesha Naga and Garuda Naga Temples and pilgrimage sites. followed by lunch at noon time before proceeding towards Vidyaranya Street where they offer prayers to their ancestors' tombs located inside Shri Vidyaranya Temple Complex nearby Gowribidre town area under Kankanady taluk near Talaguppa village intersection point where road meets Gokulna Road which leads towards Shri Krishna Mutt Road branching off from it while going further up towards Gangawati junction near Hanumanthappa Circle Post Office

Mangalore Dasara Festival

The Mangalore Dasara Festival is an annual event that takes place in the city of Mangalore, Karnataka. This festival is celebrated in honor of Lord Rama and his wife Sita Devi on the day of Dasara (October 11).

The festival began around 700 years ago when a fishing community from nearby areas came to live in this region. They built their homes near each other and started celebrating this festival every year as part of their cultural traditions.

Mangaluru Flower Show

The Flower Show is a popular cultural event held in February. It is organized by the Mangaluru City Corporation, Department of Horticulture and this year's theme is "Flower Power".

The Flower Show will be held at Gandhi Maidan from 12th-16th February 2019, where you can enjoy a wide range of floral arrangements made by artists from all over India.

Yakshagana Festival

Yakshagana is a folk art form that has been performed in the streets of Mangalore since around 200 years ago. It involves dance and song, with emphasis on intricate hand gestures and facial expressions.

It's considered to be a celebration of the ancient gods Yakshas (snakes) and Gandharvas (winged musicians), who once lived on earth as humans before they were sent into heaven. The story goes that these gods now come back once every seven days to bring good fortune to their devotees by dancing and singing for them at nightfall when it's darkest out there!

Diwali Festival

Diwali is a festival of lights. It is celebrated in many parts of India and celebrated by people from all religions and cultures. The festival begins with the lighting of lamps, which are called “diyas” or "diya", at home or in public places like shops, offices etc., on the night before Diwali (Dipavali). This marks the end of Navratri fasting period when devotees worship their goddess Lakshmi by offering her gifts like sweets and food during this period.

The next day after Diwali, families gather together to decorate their homes with colourful lights while singing religious songs such as “Vande Mataram” or “Allah Hu Akbar” to thank God for blessings received throughout their lives

Ganesha Festival is a popular festival in Mangalore. It is held in the month of August at the famous Kanteerava Indoor Stadium. The event attracts thousands of people every year and it offers a wide variety of entertainment options including cultural performances, sports events, exhibitions and food Restaurants.

Mogaveera Mahajana Samyukta Utsav

Mogaveera Mahajana Samyukta Utsav is a cultural festival celebrated in Mangalore. It is held every year to commemorate the birth anniversary of Mysore Maharaja Krishnaraja Wodeyar III and his wife Travancore Devika Rani Nalvarthi Thampuran.

The event features traditional dances, music and other performances from across Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Kerala.

Mangalore Summer Music Festival

The Mangalore Summer Music Festival is a music festival held in the city of Mangalore, India. It is hosted by the Kannada Development Authority and it is attended by musicians from all over Karnataka.

The festival began in 1999 and has become one of the most popular festivals in Central Karnataka.[1] The main venue for this festival remains to be on the beach at Uppinangady where there are many stalls selling food items, clothes and gifts.[2]
