Wonderful Places to Visit in Somnath

Somnath temple is one of the most revered shrines for Hindus in India. It is located in the state of Gujarat, at the confluence of three rivers: Kadi, Narmada and Godavari. The temple dates back to 1200 AD and has been mentioned in several Hindu scriptures including the Mahabharata and Ramayana.

Somnath Temple

Somnath Temple is a Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Shiva, located in Somnath, Gujarat. It is one of the twelve Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva.

The temple was built by the Chalukya dynasty in 7th century CE and since then it has been destroyed twice by invaders (Muslims and Mughals) as well as once by earthquake. The present structure was rebuilt during 16th century CE.

Junagadh

Junagadh is a city in the state of Gujarat, India. It is located on the banks of the Tapti River.

Junagadh is known as "The City Of Flowers" and was ruled by Kshatriya dynasty during 7th century CE. The town was founded by Raja Bhimdev I (ruled 878–942 CE), who built many temples and palaces here including one dedicated to Goddess Mandarachal Bhavani.[1] The city was also known as "Mandavgarh" during that period because it had close proximity with mountains like Girnar and Ajmer.[2] It became part of Mewar Kingdom after defeating Chaulsia Dynasty in 1459 CE.[3] In 1679 CE, Junagadh came under Mogul rule when Mughals defeated local chieftains who had rebelled against them earlier.[4]

Gir Forest National Park

The Gir Forest National Park is located in Gujarat, India. It is a part of the Gir National Park and Wildlife Sanctuary. It lies between the Aravalli Range and Bhilad hills range of Western Ghats at an elevation ranging from 300 m to 1,500 m above sea level.

It has preserved a unique natural environment with some rare species of plants and animals like leopard (Panthera pardus), sloth bear (Melursus ursinus), chinkara (Gagalechcheer) gazelle, sambar deer , swamp deer etc..

Bhalka Tirth

Bhalka Tirth is a place of pilgrimage in the Indian state of Gujarat. It is located in the Gir Forest National Garden and Park and lies 67 km from Junagadh. It is also known as Bhalka Chakra Tirth or Shri Someshwar Maharaj Tirth. The tirth has many temples dedicated to Lord Shiva, Goddess Parvathi, Hanumanji and Rama Lila (Ramayana). The main temple here is that of Lord Mahadev Swami who was born on this very spot on April 13th every year after his birth ceremony at Kalpeshwar Mandir near Vrindavan.[1]

Triveni Sangam

Triveni Sangam is a sacred Hindu temple in the town of Prabhas Patan, Gujarat, India. It is dedicated to the three goddesses of prosperity: Saraswati, Lakshmi and Parvati. Panch Pandav Gufa is a sacred place for Hindus. It is located in Somnath, Gujarat and it is a place of pilgrimage for Hindus. It is also known as Panch Pandava Gufa or Panchapandava Gufa. This place has been worshipped by pilgrims since ancient times. The name of this temple comes from five brothers who were devotees of Lord Shiva and they are also considered as gods in Hinduism. Their names are: Bhima, Arjuna, Nakula, Sahadeva and Upendra (the fifth brother).

Dehotsarg Tirth

Dehotsarg Tirth is a temple in Gujarat, India. It is located in the village of Dehothasarg in the Palitana Taluka of Gir Somnath district. The temple was built by the Chaulukya dynasty and has been around since 600 CE. The main deity here is Lord Shiva, who is known as Narayan or Bhairava (the Destroyer). There are also two other deities that represent him: Skanda/Karttikeya (the son of Parvati) and Kali (the mother goddess).

Kamnath Mahadev Temple

Kamnath Mahadev Temple is a Hindu temple dedicated to the god Shiva located in the village of Kamnath, near Junagadh in Gujarat, India.

The temple was built by Rama Varma (1469–1537 CE) of Ahom Dynasty and reinforced during his son Hemu's reign. It was built on a high cliff overlooking the Arabian Sea and is about 3 km from Junagad Fort which was built by Chaulukya King Bhimdev II (1296–1343).

Bhidbhanjan Mahadev Temple

Bhidbhanjan Mahadev Temple is a Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Shiva. It is located in the town of Bhidbhanjan in the district of Junagadh, Gujarat. The temple was built by King Vikramaditya II (12th century CE), who was also known as Vikrama Raja and reigned over the Chaulukya dynasty from 955 CE until his death in 1020.

Bhavani Mandir

Bhavaniji Temple was built by Chattrapati Shahuji Maharaj (1780–1849), who ruled as king of Gwalior State from 1831 until his death in 1849.
