Thane is the capital of Thane District and the fourth-most populous city in the state of Maharashtra. It is also one of the major industrial and commercial hubs in west India. Thane is known for its textile industry, chemical plants, steel manufacturing and as a hub for heavy engineering industries such as automobiles, shipbuilding and railways among others. The city has attracted many tourists throughout its history due to its rich cultural heritage which includes temples like Kopineshwar temple which dates back to 900 AD; Kelva Beach where one can witness beautiful sunset views over Arabian Sea; Ovalekar wadi butterfly park which offers visitors a chance to see different species of butterflies during their stay at this eco-friendly park; Masunda Lake surrounded by lush green forest hills where one can enjoy hiking during weekends or holidays
Upvan Lake is a lake in Thane, Maharashtra, India. It is a man-made lake and is situated in the Upvan area of Thane. It is located at a distance of 4 km from Upvan Railway Station. The lake was created to provide drinking water to people living around it. The lake has been developed by diverting water from the Suvarna River into an artificial ditch which was then filled with groundwater. The water quality of this body of water meets all norms laid down by Maharashtra Pollution Control Board (MPCB).
The name "Upvan" means "dove" in the Marathi language.
Kopineshwar Temple is located in Kopineshwar village and it is a Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Shiva. It is one of the oldest temples in Thane, which dates back to 11th century AD. This temple was built by the Maharaja of Bhavnagar state during his period as ruler over Gujarat (nowadays Gujarat State).
Kopineshwar Temple has been regarded as one of India's most important pilgrimage destinations since ages due to its proximity with other important places like Somnath Temple and Amba Mata Mandir (where Lord Ram stayed during his exile).
Tikuji-ni-wadi is a beautiful place to visit. It is located in Thane, Maharashtra and can be reached by taking a train from Mumbai. The best time to go there is during the summer or monsoon season as it gets very hot in this place during these seasons. There are several other places like Pandharpur, Kolhapur and Satara which you can also go for sightseeing purposes if you want something more exciting than just relaxing at home!

Yeoor Hills is a hill station located in Thane district of Maharashtra. It's situated at an elevation of 818 m above sea level and is also known as "The Queen of Hill Stations".
The natural beauty of this place makes it one of the best places to visit in Thane. A walk through the hills will give you an opportunity to explore different flora and fauna species, which includes elephants, leopards, tigers etc., all within your reach!
Masunda Lake is a natural lake located in the suburbs of Thane and is also part of the city. This beautiful lake has been created by an underground river which was formed due to the erosion caused by mountains. The best time to visit this place would be during winters when it becomes covered with ice, allowing you to enjoy skating on its frozen surface or even go for a walk on its lush green banks!
Thane Creek is a historical site that can be found in Thane, Maharashtra. It has been around for centuries and has been used by people for fishing, bathing and swimming. The lake was established when the British government built a dam across the river to create an artificial lake.
The area around this man-made lake is now popular among tourists who come here to enjoy picnics or just sightseeing during their holidays. The water quality of this place is very good because it's maintained regularly by workers from Maharashtra Water Supply and Sewerage Board (MWSSB).
Ovalekar Wadi Butterfly Park
Located in Thane, this park is a hidden gem for nature lovers. It's located near the village of Jawahar Nagar and has been built over 30 years ago by a group of volunteers who wanted to preserve the natural habitat of butterflies. The park has been divided into three different sections: there are 634 acres of forested area, 110 acres dedicated to mangroves and salt pan lakes, and an additional 3 acres set aside for butterfly breeding colonies.
The main attraction here is not just seeing all kinds of butterflies fluttering around but also getting up close with them at their highest point: the top most part where they come out during mating season (around March-April). You can visit this place on weekends or holidays between 9am-5pm; however there will be some restrictions put in place such as no pets allowed inside the premises so make sure you bring yours along before visiting!
The food scene in Thane is very vibrant, with many Thane restaurants and food stalls offering a variety of cuisines. The prices are affordable, so you can enjoy authentic Indian dishes without breaking the bank.
The cuisine here is also very tasty, as most chefs have been trained at some of the best restaurants in India. Many restaurants have their own specialties that they prepare using fresh ingredients from local farms or producers.
Foods here are also very healthy; it's difficult to find Thane fast food restaurants that sell junk food or fried foods because everyone wants to eat healthy food!
St. John the Baptist Church is a beautiful church built in the year 1856. It is located in Thane, Maharashtra. The Catholic Church was built by Father Ignatius Kaldy, who was also its first parish priest. The church has been serving as a place of worship for many people ever since it was erected over 150 years ago.
The interior of this place is full of artworks depicting various scenes from Bible stories and other religious themes including crucifixes, statues and paintings that depict Jesus Christ himself as well as other saints like Saint Francis Xavier (also known as “Padre Pio”) who were instrumental in spreading Christianity around the world before him or after him respectively during their lifetime times together with his followers during those years too! Bhiwandi is a suburb of Mumbai, and it’s one of the best places to visit in Thane. Bhiwandi has been around for centuries and has a long history. There are so many historical sites in this city, including temples that date back to the 1700s. For example:
The temple of Mahalaxmi (Shaniwar Wada) was built by Maharaja Bhavani Raja in 1099 AD;
Another temple called Ganesh Temple was constructed during 12th century AD;
Another important historical site you should see if you plan on visiting Bhiwandi is Sahyadri Hill Palace which was built by Shivaji Maharaj around 1673 CE;
As you can tell from my list above there are plenty of places worth visiting while visiting Thane!

Sagar Vihar Garden is a great place to picnic. The park has a playground, lake, and lots of flowers. It's also near the Thane railway station so you can visit it on your way back home from work (or if you're already there).
The park offers many activities for children: there are swings, slides and other play equipment available for use by visitors who want to spend some time outside with their families or friends. If you're looking for somewhere quiet and relaxing during your trip through Thane then this would be perfect!
